Academic Success Coaching

Academic success coaching uses various techniques to achieve lasting changes towards success at school or college. These sessions are tailored to the individuals' need for improvement but can focus on boosting confidence and self esteem whilst giving the student a sense of responsibility for their education; allowing them the motivation to achieve. Talk to us to hear more about how we can make a difference.

Where and when we teach

We can teach you in your home, at our home, in The Barn in Bradford on Avon, at your school, in a library, on your boat....

During holiday periods in Bradford on Avon we run half-day booster sessions for individuals or small groups and week-long cramming workshops at exam time and over the summer.

We can also tutor ‘virtually’ using phone, email and texts with infrequent face-to-face sessions if desired.

Our Flexibility

In addition to all of the above we also provide the following

★ Tuition in schools

★ Home schooling support

★ Tuition for young people in care

★ Maths tuition for deaf students

How we teach

We use accelerated learning techniques and encourage responsible learning.

This allows the student to develop an awareness of their own subject strengths and weaknesses and to be pro-active about dealing with those weaknesses.

We combine the science of learning with the art of teaching and then add a little spice; if you have a new idea for how you'd like to learn, we'll probably give it a go!

How much?

Tuition costs between £15 and £30 depending on the age of the student, the number of tutorials booked, the frequency of tutorials, the type of work and the number of students in a tutorial or workshop. Various discounts are offered including a sibling discount. We are investigating tutorial bursaries for gifted and talented students. Please contact us for an estimate of the costs for your situation.

What’s phone tutoring?

Phone tutoring is where we provide the same tuition services, but over the phone.

This can be arranged to make the most of technology and use webcams or instant messenger mediums to allow visual input and instant feedback. The limitations are on the technology of both the tutor and the student but with some students who have a stronger auditory sense it can be very powerful.

We would arrange a specific time slot for phone tuition and the student is expected to call the tutor during this time. The same fees and cancellation fees apply.

We have found this allows us to reach more students than would be manageable by car and can also be used as a ‘top-up’ in between face to face tutoring sessions.

Special Educational Needs

Although we are not ‘specialists’ in special needs like dyslexia, dyscalculia, aspergers or autism some of our tutors do have experience of working with students who experience these challenges and so can offer some insight into how to appeal to their particular needs to allow them to succeed.

Please contact me for more information.
